About the Tiers
Our Tiers offer a build-your-own selection of support for your families home learning needs. We have a range of time and coaching support to time with your child(ren) in calls.
Our classes are extra support in a range of subjects offered by our Learning Partners.
Our sliding scale contribution options are shown immediately after registering and agreeing to temporary membership with our freedom-based parent organization, Alighten.
Showcase calls:
The children have been loving our Showcase calls, where they get to show off their latest projects with their peers and discover and discuss new subjects in an online all with a teacher as a facilitator.
All ages welcome to join and share ideas, project designs, news and more!
Our classes and meetings using a circle council style format which is inclusive and effective in allowing leadership skills to be cultivated, reciprocal listening and respectful dialogue. Our guiding light for this practice can be found here and permeates all of the social structures found in our Ministry. View this link to find out more: Sociocracy with Children Videos
Hosted by an adult moderator, Lori, Freja or Suzanne- moderators come with a theme prompt but also run with the emerging themes and presentations made by the children. Parents are welcome to attend as observers. Calls will not be recorded.
Group classes:
Class content themes will follow the Lifestyle Integrated Learning Plan Block Outline provided in the Parent Guide. All classes are 1 hour long. This allows for a check in and content review for 15 minutes and 45 minutes of content delivery. Content can include concepts, practice sessions and discussions. Learning Partners will weave the student's interest and current activities into the calls.
Classes
Our instructors hold different specialities and favorite classes to teach. You can learn more about our instructors on our About Us page.

Sparking discussions- Freja will follow interests emerging in the call and synthesize ideas to guide themes and inquiry aligned with family profiles.
Suzanne’s classes

2025-2026 Block Outlines
Suzanne and Freja’s outline of classes are meant to be a guide for you. The group calls and showcase calls are different.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
The Group Calls are directed with lesson practice and prompts by the mentor/ teacher from the outline below.
The Showcase calls are guided calls with the focus on child-led interest and good communication flow, respecting each other’s turns. The guide will steer the call themes as needed to ensure everyone gets a turn and the topics are focused.

Learning Partner Check ins
These consults are one-to-one video call meetings with your Learning Partner and the parent to discuss the child’s progress and strategy.
One-to-one focused tutoring
Direct skills-focused sessions are skills-based classes focused on a subject, skill or topic of your choice. Focus class requires parent and student to adhere to a learning path that is mutually agreed upon. This will ensure skills are acquired and lessons for retaining the skills are followed in the home-learning environment. This is our most structured class and is hosted by the Learning Partner that specializes in the subject area you need support in.
Sliding Scale Contribution Scaffolding
We understand that in our economic climate, meeting basic needs while trying to support your family and bring the vision you see for your homeschool learning plan into fruition can be a challenge. We recognize that not everyone has access to the same economic opportunities as others and may be facing challenges in economic liquidity. We invite you to consider your needs and opportunities when choosing the tier that fits your family’s means. In traditional public and private schools which are privately funded, third party assessments for tuition capacity are in place. When entering the private domain, however, rest assured, your donation will be accounted for on a case by case basis. We consider your ability to self access and make the right choice for your family.
True Value : (SS1) This is the true sustaining cost on the sliding scale. This tier reflects the true value of our offering. It is the value that would be charged to all members in the absence of a sliding scale. If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, have access to family resources, and/or are not concerned about basic necessities such as food, housing, or health care, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services. If you have financial security this tier is for you! By contributing at this level, you support the community we are growing, and have power in your choice to spend your abundance in a way that shelters and supports the growth of others.
Economy Value : (SS2) This is the middle value of the 3 tiers of the sliding scale. This tier reflects our acknowledgement that paying the full cost would prevent some folks from being able to access/participate, but who do not honestly find themselves reflected in either descriptions for the highest (true) value or the supported value. If you are struggling to conquer debt or build savings or move away from paycheck to paycheck living but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs, such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc, you belong here. If you can ask others for financial support, such as family members, partners or friends, please consider using those personal resources before you use the resources of the sliding scale.
Supported Value : (SS3) This is the supported value of the 3 tiers. This tier represents our acknowledgement that there are people whose economic circumstances would prevent them from being part of educational access if there was not a deliberate opportunity made for them to access services at a cost that is reflective of their economic realities. If you struggle to maintain access to needs, such as health care, housing, food, child care and/or are living paycheck to paycheck, or are in significant debt, this tier is for you - and you deserve a community that honors your contribution as an equal economic offering.
At Alighten our offerings are generosity based. We generously contribute our time and resources to build the Hub, the Launch Your Learning Center program, and support our Children Ministry branches. For those who are in a place of financial security and are in a place to give, we accept your generosity and are dedicated to direct the kindness towards our children’s future, making sure all children in our programs have access to quality learning opportunities that spark creativity, independence and inquiry. We ensure access for all through the sliding price scale. We may also provide a donation receipt by request which our donors may use for a tax deduction.
